In this week’s health feature, we speak to family physician in the department of family medicine at Wits University, Professor Shabir Moosa about the Soweto Chiawelo community project. For the past decade, the Practice has tested how primary healthcare that starts within communities through things like exercise groups can keep people healthy. The project was started by Moosa who believes it can serve as a blueprint for the National Health Insurance.
