GUEST – Sunette Mulder, senior policy adviser at ASISA

Local Collective Investment Schemes (CIS), commonly known as unit trusts, grew assets under management (AUM) to almost R3.5 trillion by end-2023, a new record for the industry.
That represents a more than 11% year-on-year growth in assets from the R3.14 trillion recorded at the end of December 2022, according to the Association for Savings and Investment SA (Asisa) latest quarterly statistics on Tuesday.

Sunette Mulder, senior policy adviser at Asisa, attributed the asset growth to net inflows of R110 billion over the 12 months to end-2023 as well as market performance, given
