Popi Sibiya

Hi there, I’m Popi Sibiya. Kaffrarian Heights, Eastern Cape

I quit my job to explore the world and that’s exactly what I’m doing. I prefer budget travel by road and rail because it opens me up to more possibilities. A fellow-traveler might mention something interesting in passing which might inspire me to hop off at a different stop than originally planned in pursuit of this newfound adventure. Road and rail travel also allows me to show other young travelers that we don’t have to wait for our 30s or 40s to travel - traveling is accessible to us right now!

I plan to leave for Ghana at the beginning of December 2021; covering Namibia, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin and Togo along the way. I would like to raise at least R30 000 before I leave, and I will raise the rest on the road. I have estimated my monthly expenses to be around R30 000 (accommodation, transport, food, COVID tests, VISAS) and I expect to return to South Africa by the end of March 2022 latest.
