Amplifying The Love: The Santa Shoebox Project Doubles Up This Year!

Poverty is like a punishment for a crime you didn’t commit… especially when we look at the children who suffer these circumstances. Every child deserves to be loved, taken care of, and enjoy Christmas time. Every child deserves a Santa Shoebox!

The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006 as a way for people to provide gifts to children who often go without during the festive season. The first roll-out saw just 180 gift boxes distributed to children in need. In 2020, that number crossed the 1 million mark.

The Project, which is now in its 16th year, is an inspiring community initiative that collects uniquely personalised gifts for underprivileged children. Equally, the project is about parents teaching their own children the Joy of Giving.

“When a donor pledges a Santa Shoebox, they promise a child the gift of self-worth and fulfilled potential. These are so much more than “just” a shoebox; each donor fills a decorated shoebox with 8 required items – a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing.”

The Santa Shoebox team joined the Good Things Guy Podcast to discuss the awesome initiative as well as this year's theme: Let the haves share the love!
