Army chief Gen Rudzani Maphwanya appeared before the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) as the commission continued its second leg of hearings into the July 2021 unrest and looting. Maphwanya gave detailed accounts of why and how the defence force was deployed during the unrest.
